It is highly unlikely that suppliers will allow you to take your rented vehicle on a ferry, even if the island you wish to visit is part of the same country, where you rented the car.
In the rarest case, where the supplier allows the renter to take the car on a ferry, separate charges might get incurred, which don’t include the ferry tickets.
The renters should avoid taking the rented car on a ferry without the permission of the supplier, as the renter will be fully liable in case of any damage/loss.
So, if your itinerary includes crossing the islands/countries with a ferry, check the supplier "Rental Terms" for sure.
