An International Driving License (IDL) or International Driving Permit (IDP) is a document entailing a translation of your original domestic driver’s license in multiple languages. The idea is to make it easier for the local authorities in foreign countries to understand what is written in your DL. It must be accompanied by your original Driver’s License (DL) when renting a car abroad as some suppliers as well as a select few countries make it mandatory to produce an IDP when requested.
